Does St Mungo's accept household items and do you collect?

Generally we do not accept large items of furniture unless there is a specific or immediate need for it, which could be when a client is ready to move out of one of our hostels and into their own flat.

For health and safety reasons we cannot accept the following items on behalf of our clients:

Used beds and bedding (new blankets must be fire retardant to crib factor 5)
Non fire retardant furniture
Used/secondhand fridges and freezers
TVs and other electrical items in need of repair

We can only accept electrical items that are in good condition, and can arrange for these to be tested, by a member of our Health and Safety team, if practicable.

Please contact us to find out if we can match your kind donation to one of our hostels or with a client who is due to move from a hostel and into their own home. Contact info@mungos.org and leave a message giving the details of the item to be donated.

Please bear in mind that many of our hostels do not have the means to pick up donated items, and may ask that you drop them off or arrange delivery.

If we cannot accept your gift, you might like to try the following London community projects, all of which collect furniture for people on a low income.
