St Mungo's helps more homeless people into training and work than any other charity, and work with companies in order to continue providing this important service. One of these companies is Return to Earn, who offer three month paid work placements to St Mungo's residents who are ready for work. Jem, from Return to Earn, says:
"It's wonderful to work with St Mungo's. They do incredible work and we're fortunate to be in a position to help them with that. Their hands-on approach really appealed to us as a company, as we have a strong in-house policy of investing in people. We're delighted, particularly, to have a St Mungo's client working for us as part of their apprenticeship scheme, as this is the kind of direct, sustained, personalised care for people affected by homelessness which, for us, makes St Mungo's such a great cause."
Return to Earn is a textile recycling company, based in White City, which buys used clothing from members of the public nationwide - they pay the best price on the net for clothing which can be worn again. When sending your unwanted clothes to Return to Earn, you can choose to donate your earnings to St Mungo's; visit their website for more information on how to make your donation.
Return to Earn run the only zero-waste textile site in the UK, and as part of the Parker Lane Group have helped to save 536 trees and more than three billion litres of water since September 2010, as well as preventing thousands of tonnes of clothing from ending up in landfill.
They will also be providing warm clothes to some of our hostels, and hope to collaborate in other innovate ways with St Mungo's in the future.
