St Mungo's Radio 4 Appeal
We are delighted to have been chosen by BBC Radio 4 to broadcast a very special Charity Appeal this week .
The Radio 4 Appeal is a weekly programme highlighting the work of selected charities and appealing for donations to support its activities
The BBC has broadcast appeals for individual charities since 1923 and this is the first time St Mungo's has been lucky enough to be part of the project.
Lorna Smith, Apprentice Project Worker at St Mungo's, presents our Rebuilding Shattered Lives Appeal to help homeless and vulnerable women.
About a quarter of St Mungo's residents are women and they have identified significant issues for them, where they need help to recover from homelessness.
We want to raise money for:
- A psychotherapist specialising in supporting women
- A Family Support Worker who helps people get back in contact with their families
- Tailored employment support to enable women to achieve their employment goals - the most common work aspirations among our female clients are creative professions, support worker roles and working in business.
- An Activities Worker to organise activities and trips
- A Support Worker to work across St Mungo's, specialising in issues around domestic violence and sex working.
- Improvements for our accommodation projects
