Location: Northern Norway
Date: 11-16 March 2014
Sledding over 200km from the base camp into the wilds of Norway, this event proves the ultimate challenge for many participants. With temperatures falling as low as -30C the bond between man and dog becomes essential, and the real essence of team work is tested in this hostile environment. You will be responsible for your own team of 4-6 huskies who will be your companions every day on your journey across the snow.
The nature of this event means it is run with a relatively small number of participants, up to a maximum of 13. You will be expected to feed, harness and look after your dogs for the entire trip, and help prepare meals in some of the more isolated cabins. You will be accompanied on the trip by an experienced challenge leader and local guide as well as an expedition doctor.
This is an extreme challenge and not one for the faint hearted as you are tested against Arctic conditions. Participants must train and be fit enough to take part as it is an extremely strenuous challenge which needs both physical and mental endurance.
If you have the stamina and a real thirst for adventure then this could be the once in a lifetime experience you've been looking for. The sense of achievement you will experience when you complete this incredible trip will stay with you forever.
"What a brilliant trip! A great bunch of people, superb leaders, some good money raised, and a few positive 'life lessons' along the way as well!" Patrick, St Mungo's husky sledder, March 2013
