A right to shelter

In recent decades great strides have been made in addressing the problems of homelessness.

An obligation has been created by law so that local authorities are required to house people who fall within a definition (for more information visit http://www.shelter.org.uk/). While this has done much to improve the outlook for some homeless people, particularly families, others remain out in the cold.

We would like to see an extended definition with a right to accommodation for all homeless men and women to ensure that no one if left behind and all those with a need are offered a place to sleep.
