West Oxfordshire Single Homeless Pathway and complex needs housing projects in Oxford City

West Oxfordshire Single Homeless Pathway (WOSHP)

St Mungo's West Oxfordshire Single Homeless Pathway is a 27 bed semi independent housing scheme, split across six accommodation projects, which opened in October 2010.

Of the 27 beds in the scheme, 19 are reserved for young people between the ages of 16 to 25 years, with the remaining eight for older people with support needs. The projects are based in Witney, Carterton and Chipping Norton.

A team leader and six specialist staff support clients with issues around substance use, mental or physical health, help them move on into different accommodation and encourage them to realise their full potential.

Oxford City

St Mungo's manages two projects in Oxford City offering varying levels of support to homeless men and women with a history of substance use, who are at different stages in their recovery journey, and who have agreed to work towards harm reduction and abstinence.

  • A ten bed residential treatment service for homeless men and women managed by St Mungo's since November 2010. This is in partnership with substance use provider SMART CJS, whose staff supply day to day keyworking and psychological interventions for clients, and engage with local medical practitioners around the prescribing element of the service. A St Mungo's Move On worker works closely with clients and keyworkers to ensure the client's resettlement fits with their treatment plans and their recovery aspirations.
  • Seven self-contained flats for people who have worked towards becoming abstinent from drug use prior to moving in. and a shared house, providing housing and support for seven clients with substance use issues. Clients are encouraged to cook and eat communally and build relationships with other housemates. Before they become residents, clients sign an agreement to address their substance misue.
